Ferro/ Variant
1995 Dutch Warmblood Stallion Black
16.3 hands (170cm)
Sire of Olympic, World Equestrian Games, and World Cup winner Valego; as well as WBFSH 6 & 7-Year Old World Champion Kjento, Negro has repeatedly confirmed his value as a sire of top dressage talent.
Negro scores extremely high with a high reliability on the index (150 – 95%). Negro offspring have proven time and again they have the talent for the FEI work and are winning at the FEI levels with professionals, amateurs, and young riders. An exceptional canter, active hindleg, and talent for collection are consistent across his offspring. Due to the world-class quality of his offspring, Negro has been awarded the coveted Preferant status by the KWPN and was the 2017 KWPN Stallion of the Year.
Negro’s sire Ferro was one of the most successful international dressage stallions in history, capturing the Team Silver at the World Equestrian Games, European Championships, and Olympics. Negro’s mother is out of a top dam-line that, via the international stallions Variant and Gondelier (keur) and the predicate-rich mares Fewrie (keur IBOP AA 92) Mewrie (keur pref prest sport) and Geerie (ster pref prest.), vouches for sport, build, power, desire to work and quality.
At his Stallion Performance Test Negro was Reserve Champion overall, earning exceptional praise for his canter which scored an 8.5. Negro won his KWPN Stallion Show competitions and was the highest placed Dutch horse at the 2001 FEI Young Horse Championships. By age 7 he was winning at Prix St. Georges and had a remarkable talent for all the Grand Prix work. Olympic rider Anne Van Olst calls him ‘the best horse I ever rode’ and the impact of his influence as both a sire and damsire has built the foundation for the success of Van Olst Horses in both breeding and international sport.
San Ria is our precious girl since her birth. Not only a pleasure to see, she present 3 super gaits and a very good conformation. In plus her interior qualities are very good. Intelligent, friendly, calm and confident, she is a star at the barn and where she goes.
At the foal inspection in 2017, she received 2 marks of 9, was awarded Premium Foal and she was the Champion Site Filly. At her mare approbation in 2021, the Westfalen NA graded her the rare award Premium mare with her conformation, movement and pedigree.
Sire, Sir Gregory, was the convincing winner of his 30 day test at Neustadt/Dosse, with very high scores, the high overall score of 8.85, highest score in the dressage phase of 9.08 and the very good score of 8.35 in the jumping phase (Interior 9.25, Walk 8.50,Trot 9.38, Canter 8.75, Rideabilty 9.38 Jumping Ability 8.00.)
Sir Gregory is a very modern type stallion, of striking good-looks, with a beautiful head and neck. He has very correct conformation, his gaits are powerful, with a lot of elasticity, very good use of the hind leg, and he already shows a very good ability to collect. Sir Gregory also has a very good temperament, he is kind, smart and learns quickly, this goes hand and hand with his high rideability.
